Remembering You

A poem

Photo by Laura Thonne on Unsplash

Nostalgia hits,

I dream of you.

Hair of mixed blonde,

handsome eyes so blue.

I dazzle in your gaze

in the moments where our eyes finally meet.

But how harsh it is now

to find only the truth is concrete.

The roads still bear your presence –

I catch a glimpse of you in passing times.

But it’s only a trick of the past,

the person I see is still not mine.

How I regret never saying hello

to give our story the chance to transpire.

But perhaps it is just the same

that our ending should not have held such desire.

To feel your absence,

there is no pain.

To wish you were here,

I only hope you wish the same.
